Born and raised in Philadelphia's Black Bottom, Dennis has been active with the Promise Zone since 2016. He serves on the Penn Advisory Board and Baring Street Community, focusing on understanding and serving his community.

Rita Nelson

A West Powelton resident for over 50 years, Rita joined the Promise Zone in 2018. Her involvement as a Promise Neighborhood Surveyor deepened her connection to community-based research.

Amy Carroll-Scott
An Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Community Health and Prevention at Drexel’s Dornsife School of Public Health, Dr. Carroll-Scott’s research addresses urban health and social inequities through community-based participatory approaches.
Jimmy Allen
Former Executive Director of Mantua Community Planners and President of the Philadelphia Crime Prevention Association, Jimmy now works as Outreach Director at Management and Environmental Technologies Inc. and coordinates outreach for the Mantua Civic Association and Promise Neighborhood Youth Committee. He is committed to improving community quality of life and fostering connections between local institutions.
Juanda Myles
A lifelong Philadelphian and Citizen Planner, Juanda champions sustainability, historical preservation, and affordable housing. An urban agriculture advocate and community activist, she has supported PZRC since its inception in 2014.
